Mercedes-Benz will bring to Frankfurt a new S-Class with a fuel economy of 3.2 liters per 100 km.
At the beginning of next week at the Frankfurt Motor Show will be the world premiere of the second prototype of a hybrid version of the sedan Mercedes-Benz S-Class, known as S 500 Plug-in HYBRID. Novelty will be equipped with 3.5-liter six-cylinder gasoline engine and 60-horsepower electric motor, able to work as a generator during braking and recharge the lithium-ion batteries. According to Mercedes-Benz, the level of CO2 emissions from such vehicles is 74 grams per kilometer, which is 28 grams less than the hybrid Toyota Prius.
The first hybrid version of Mercedes-Benz S-Class, which is already sold in Europe, equipped with the same 3.5-liter V6 power of 279 horsepower, but its electric power to 40 horsepower less than the conceptual S 500. As previously reported, the combined fuel consumption of this car is 7.9 liters per hundred kilometers.
When Mercedes-Benz S 500 Plug-in HYBRID appear in production is not reported.
